If you have previously had legal representation for any kind of personal injury matter which came to a successful conclusion, you may have an entitlement to the legal fees charged by your lawyers.
At Wilson Fox Lawyers we are willing to review your completed personal injury matter and give you obligation free advice as to whether you can successfully recover some of the legal fees from your previous lawyers.
It is a requirement that any costs dispute be informally negotiated. If negotiations are not successful, you may then have to apply for the costs to be assessed.
An application for a costs assessment must be made within 12 months of the legal costs being paid or from when the bill becomes payable. An application lodged out of time may be accepted if it is considered just and fair to do so.
If you receive a lump sum bill, you have a right to request a bill in itemised form. Below is an example of our success:
